This is the release notes for XWiki Commons, XWiki Rendering and XWiki Platform. They share the same release notes as they are released together and have the same version.

This release contains a few UI improvments, including a better design of the error / warning / info boxes, and important bug fixes. It also brings support to Jetty 12 for the provided standalone jetty distribution.

Differentiation of message types

 
Message boxes now include icons in their design. It makes it easier to differentiate one type of message from the other without having to rely on color (especially helpful for colorblind users!). In addition, their design has been slightly reworked to fit better in the current skin.

Improved contrast on default table borders

 
The previous style could get difficult to see for low vision users. The new color follows the color theme used on the page and it will meet standard contrast requirements given you use a color theme that respects those requirements, such as Iceberg.

  • Reproducible XAR and XIP builds: When the Maven build is configured to be reproducible, building XAR and XIP extensions gives reproducible results now, too.

Backward Compatibility and Migration Notes

General Notes

  • When upgrading make sure you compare and merge the following XWiki configuration files since some parameters may have been modified, removed or added:
    • xwiki.cfg
    • xwiki.properties
    • web.xml
    • hibernate.cfg.xml
  • Add xwiki.store.migration=1 in xwiki.cfg so that XWiki will attempt to automatically migrate your current database to any new schema. Make sure you backup your Database before doing anything.
