Release Notes for XWiki Enterprise Manager 3.3
New and Noteworthy
XWiki Enterprise Manager is now using XWiki Enterprise 3.3. See the XWiki Enterprise 3.3 release notes. Apart from that, this release actually sees some major changes:
XEM now behaves as a workspace manager
After the introduction of the "Workspaces" aspect of virtual farms in the previous release, now XWiki Enterprise Manager has been changed to be a Workspaces distribution.
The previous virtual farm usecase is still achievable by using XWiki Enterprise and installing the Wiki Manager Application.
Path-based multiwiki enabled by default
In virtual mode, XWiki can work in two ways: based on domain names, where each virtual wiki is accessed from a different DNS domain, like wikiname.myfarm.net, and path-based, where each virtual wiki is accessed on a different path of the same domain, like www.myfarm.net/wikis/wikiname/. Since the former mode is harder to set up, since it requires a custom DNS server, we have enabled the second mode by default in this release.
Artifact renaming
In this release the two XARs specific to XEM have been renamed, xwiki-manager-application-xem becoming xwiki-manager-ui, and xwiki-manager-wiki-administrator becoming xwiki-manager-ui-all.
