Release Notes for XWiki Enterprise 2.0.5

This is the last bug fix and enhancement release for 2.0 branch.

If you can we recommend to upgrade to XWiki Enterprise 2.1 instead since some problems with the Panels application have been introduced in this release. If you cannot upgrade just yet, please see the Know issues section below for a workaround.

New Features and Improvements

Important Bugs fixed

  • XWIKI-4626 - Go to, Search and Document Index doesn't work with Chines page names

  • XWIKI-4076 - Database for a newly created wiki does not support utf8
  • XWIKI-4636 - Error while creating temporary files.

Known issues

The Panels Application has been updated by error in the XWiki Enteprise 2.0.5 release. One known issue is that the Quick Links panels will display RSS Feed links but without images. Another is that some Panels will not look right. When you install or upgrade to 2.0.5 please don't import the Panels application from the XAR. Instead import the Panels page from the 2.0.4 XAR instead (if you're on a version lower than 2.0.4) or do nothing if you're upgrading from 2.0.4. For reference here are the Panels application issues that shouldn't have made it in this release:

  • XAPANELS-100 - Add RSS links in the QuickLinks panel
  • XAPANELS-99 - Panels written in the xwiki/2.0 syntax should trigger the inline edit mode
  • XAPANELS-98 - Accordion section titles arbitrarily use level 6 headings

Backward Compatibility and Migration Notes

General Notes

If you're running in a multiwiki setup you'll also need to define the property xwiki.store.migration.databases=all to your xwiki.cfg file or explicitly name all databases to be migrated as in xwiki.store.migration.databases=db1,db2,....

You may also want to import the default wiki XAR in order to benefit from the improvements listed above. If you do so make sure you follow the upgrade process in order not to overwrite your existing pages.

Always make sure you compare your xwiki.cfg file with the newest version since some configuration parameters were added. Note you should add xwiki.store.migration=1 so that XWiki attempts to automatically migrate your current database to the new schema. Make sure you backup your Database before doing anything.
